Life Source Services hospice of Paramus, New Jersey is once again proud to announce the Winter Edition of its New Jersey Hospice newsletter. Started several years ago to inform the public about news and happenings at its Paramus location, and to provide inspirational words, the newsletter has blossomed as a staple for the hospice. Unlike other editions that have featured clinical staff, this edition features two administrative support individuals.
Karen D’Imperio, the Administrator of Life Source explained that while. clinical staff is often the face that patients and families see most, the administrative support staff provides some tremendous legwork to help enable the clinicians to do their job. From scheduling home health aide visits to ensuring proper billing information, the support staff at Life Source Services hospice is an integral part of the New Jersey hospice’s organization. The members featured in this edition have been at Life Source for many years. Commenting on their importance to Life Source, Ms. D’Imperio said, their dedication and commitment is instrumental in meeting the every day needs of our patients.
The newsletter also offers a sweet treat. A chocolate treat to be exact. While some individuals are hesitant to eat chocolate because of its perceived diet busting properties, the hospice newsletter suggests that chocolate may also provide some health benefits. For example, chocolate has been touted for its antioxidant benefits and it may also offer other benefits such as lowing cholesterol and increasing athletic performance. Stopping short of recommending a daily dose of chocolate, the newsletter offers a compelling argument to research the health benefits of this potentially healthy treat–even for the most health conscious of readers.
The hospice newsletter also includes fun facts about our pets. How many people gift on a pet’s birthday? How much is such a gift worth? These curiosities are includes in the newsletter to help lift the spirits of its readers. While end-of-life care is a serious topic, previous hospice newsletters reflected on the power of animals to soothe minds and calm nerves. Ms. D’Imperio is especially cognizant of the benefits of animals in hospice and end-of-life care.
